A common question we get from jobseekers is: how many pages should my resume be? We surveyed 10 Australian experts! We reviewed advice from 10 popular Australian career advice companies, and summarised their responses to how long a resume should be in Australia in 2019.
1 PAGE (MAXIMUM) RESUME: SCORE: 1 vote
1 expert recommended a one page resume was best, suggesting that condensing down your resume into a concise document of achievements demonstrates a skill in itself.
However, more experts supported the idea of a 1-page resume if you had a certain amount of experience (see below).

2 PAGE (MAXIMUM) RESUME: SCORE: 2 votes
2 experts recommended your resume should not exceed 2 pages. One suggested that most positions did not require more than 2 pages. 1 company recommended that if your work history doesn’t fit on two pages, it’s not worth writing about.
However, more experts supported the idea of a 2-page resume if you had a certain amount of experience (see below).

One company suggested that a 3 page resume was a key ingredient to a ‘perfect’ resume; however, further support was given to the idea of a 3 page resume if you had a certain amount of experience (see below).

The majority of advice was that the length of your resume should depend on the extent of your experience.
Most companies , including seek and careerone agreed with the following lengths for each experience level:
Students and early career employees preferred resume length: 1-2 pages
Several years experience preferred resume length: 3-5 pages
Dependent on Career Experience 6/10 votes
When it comes to how long a resume should be in Australia in 2019, the majority of Australian experts surveyed favoured a 3 page resume for mid-career jobseekers, and a 1-2 page resume for students or those early in their career.
